History
The dish was used to celebrate the first day of harvesting when the king and queen gather with their subjects, a most splendid and happy occasion for all in the kingdom. Aromatic smoked dishes from the grill and braziers, fresh and colorful, with Balinese music beautifully playing in the background, the people wholeheartedly served their monarch.
An elegant presentation of dishes from all over Bali’s regions, served on a giant bamboo tray, consists of two Balinese soups, meat dishes, a variety of seafood dishes, vegetables, classical sauce, sambal,rice and mouth watering array of local desserts. The Kulkul (a traditional bamboo instrument ) is played while serving to the guest.

History
In ancient times, the ancestors of Indonesia were known as Sea Wanderers or Fishermen who sailed the seas, moving from one island to another to look for better life. They had so much respect and appreciation for the natural wealth caught from the sea and they highly worshiped the God and the Ocean called “Baruna”, so once they had a great catch and also a successful harvest of their crops they would have celebrated and dedicated a lavish feast in his honor. For the celebration they displayed a splendid array of foods on the table, consisting of catches from the sea and also harvested fresh crops from the coastal areas. During the ceremony, they chanted their prayers and also danced of joy in gratitude to “Baruna”, the God of the Ocean.
A presentation of traditional sumptuous lunch or dinner selection of seafood specialties i.e grilled prawn, squid, clam, and fish combined with beef and natural produce like rice, fruits, and vegetables served with choices of freshly grounded chili paste or sambal and a variety of delicious desserts served in a special small wooden boat, accompanied by traditional music and folk songs at the time of serving to the guest.
